OVERVIEW

“I do not allow myself to be overcome by hopelessness, no matter how tough the situation. I believe that if you just do your little bit without thinking of the bigness of what you stand against, if you turn to the enlargement of your own capacities, just that itself creates new potential.”
Vandana Shiva, Environmentalist, Scholar, and Author

YOU MADE IT. Today marks the start of the final challenge of Project Green Challenge 2020 and beginning of your next phase as a mobilized agent for change. Over the past month, you have transitioned from conventional YOU to conscious YOU — and through that, shifted the mindsets and practices of friends, family, campuses and communities by championing a lens of sustainability, justice, ethics, intention and positivity. Your individual and collective explorations, discoveries and evolutions have been extraordinary to witness.

And your quest to change the world is only just starting. Where will you go from here? What will you take with you from the PGC experience? For some, your next big step will be the PGC Finals. Others may work with Turning Green as Campus Reps, Conscious College Road Tour hosts, interns or through numerous robust opportunities. How will you continue to live a life of impact and incorporate that into all you do? What will be your role in healing our planet and inspiring many more to join? These are questions to contemplate as you journey forward.

Before you get started on making even bigger waves, we want to thank you for your dedication, magnificent work, creativity, passion and perseverance throughout October. We know how much work is required for such an in-depth commitment to PGC! Thank you for refusing to accept the status quo, for opening yourself to the possibilities of cultivating a healthy and just planet, for embracing the layers of wide-ranging daily themes, and for being willing to change the course of our shared future.

You are our hope — and after the tenth annual Project Green Challenge with tens of thousands of student participants across the United States and around the globe, we can say with certainty that our future is bright indeed. We are here with you every step of the way moving forward. Please never hesitate to reach out to our Turning Green team to collaborate, ideate or for support of any kind. Here’s to you! Here’s to us!

With immense gratitude,

The Turning Green Team

A Reflection

Due: October 30 at 6am PT

THINK

Think about your pre-PGC self: the you of less than one short month ago. Now think about who you are today. How has your perception of the world shifted? Are you making different choices? In what ways have you engaged those around you? How have YOU changed?

CHALLENGE

We want you to assess how far you’ve come. On Day 1, you took the PGC Entry Survey. Today we ask you to take the PGC Exit Survey to measure the impact that just one month of newfound wisdom, education, inspiration and action can have on any individual. We cannot wait to see!

Post a quote about the biggest shift you saw in yourself as a result of Project Green Challenge on Instagram. Share your words as a creative visual, either typed, handwritten or graphically! Don’t forget to tag @TurningGreenOrg and use #PGC2020, like always.

DELIVERABLES

Please upload a PDF document confirming completion of the exit survey and a screenshot of your social media post. Please include your name (or team name), username, email address, and school.

Submission Guidelines

  • Link to images, if possible

  • Send any questions to info@turninggreen.org
  • Don’t forget to post about the challenge and your learnings/doings on social media and tag us on Facebook @TurningGreen, on Twitter @TurningGreenOrg, and on Instagram @TurningGreenOrg and use #PGC2020
